ASDU Sun Island Resort Hotelwas opened in December 1981 and since then they have tried their best to keep the Island as original and natural as it had been at the beginning, endeavouring to continue the traditional Maldivian hospitality and charm of yesteryears. This beautiful Island Hotel is amongst the simplest beach island hotel in the Maldives, with its beautiful green vegetation, white sandy beach and the crystal clear lagoon and the vast variety of marine fauna. The accommodations are simple with no modern facilities but it is among the best booked and reserved hotels in Maldives.

Asdu Sun Island is connected to Male' Airport by means of Asdu fast motor boat service, to be arranged before arrival. The trip takes approximately 1 hour and half to cover the 32 kms distance. It is also possible to take a dhoni, the traditional Maldivian motor boat that takes about 3 hours. It is said to be a three star resort hotel as it doesn’t have the modern facilities. A simple & tropical holiday place.

Asdu is probably the smallest resort in the Maldives with an affordable price, apart from just one other more luxurious resort. This is by no means the cheapest resort.

You may find other larger resorts of equal standard or of even better facilities with lower prices at times. This Island Asdu Beach Resort Maldives is especially ideal for those who love to be in a natural setting and prefer simplicity and informality on their vacation. Although the facilities are not deluxe, they are adequate and comfortable. It not standardized by any star but generally its said as a 3 star resort.

Each one of the 30 bungalow accommodations has its own verandah facing the beach and lying under the shadow of Asdu's lush vegetation. Each bungalow is equipped with telephone, allowing International direct calls, a ceiling fan, private toilette with shower and desalinated water.

Double and triple accommodation are foreseen, while an extra bed is always possible.

Tourists and guests booked to the resort will be transferred to the resort on the first available boat transfer and all transfers are combined group transfers to & from the resort. Night transfers are only available at times and can be notified at the time of booking. Together with the hotel we always try arrange earliest possible transfers and the resort is very concerned with the transfers and food.

The boats are seaworthy and comfortable, the meals are on a set menu basis but assure you a variety of dishes that you would enjoy - more home cooking than commercial cooking. The cuisine is particularly cared: Asdu's Italian trained cooks serve delicious dishes prepared according to Italian, International and Maldivian recipes. For guests' relaxation a library is available, with several languages books, table games, a video hall with several languages films and documentaries.

Cyber surfers will also find Internet facilities, with e-mail service.

But the best feature of Asdu Sun Island resort is probably the family-like Maldivian atmosphere: stay on ASDU and experience a holiday with friends...

The lagoon surrounding the Island is shallow while the house reef is indeed easily accessible thereby offering safety to children while snorkelers would waste no time in reaching the house reef.

Diving is especially good around this part of North Male' Atoll. There had been frequent sightings of mantas and even whales at times.

There is good news for surfing enthusiasts. The best surfing areas are in close proximity to Asdu – special trips can be arranged for resident guests who would like to go surfing.
