FOUR SEASONS Resort Maldives at KUDA HURAA

Class

The original Four Seasons resort on the island of Kuda Huraa was one of the first luxury resorts to open in the Maldives in1997. In the aftermath of the tsunami which took place on December 26, 2004, the Resort were badly damaged and has been open in 2006 after complete renovation. A new resort, one that is as sparklingly new as the glistening turquoise waters of Maldives. The extensive programme features 32 brand new Beach Bungalows with plunge pools and breathtaking ocean views;extra-spacious Beach Pavilions with an increased living space of 10 m2, some with interconnecting gates which make them the perfect choice for a family on vacation; and supremely luxurious Water Bungalows with fresh new interiors and enlarged bathrooms and living area, offering endless views of sunrise, sunshine and sunset.

The stunningly designed Baraabaru restaurant which serves fine Moghul cuisine is fashioned with an outdoor deck that extends 25 metres into the lagoon, providing an exquisite dining experience perched over water. A brand new contemporary restaurant, Café Huraa, has two dining pavilions overlooking the pool and ocean, and a wine cellar that boast of an exclusive selection of the finest handpicked wines. The expanded Island Spa with additional pavilions is a spa full of sensory surprises. The Resort, a vibrant garden island, favoured for its intimacy and rustic simplicity, is poised to become another legendary Four Seasons resort. What has not changed is the unrivalled, intuitive Four Seasons service. The unstinting dedication of its staff will continue to create magical moments to make your stay truly unforgettable.

Designed to reflect the country’s indigenous culture, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is a beautiful, rustic island that benefits from a strongly defined sense of
community and a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Awash with Bougainvillea, Bird of Paradise and Frangipani blossoms, the 12 acre private island resort has an exotic village-like feel, making it perfect for families and couples for whom a social environment is an important part of the holiday experience. The Resort comprises 96 thatched beach and water bungalows. All are furnished in a modern tropical style, designed to complement the garden surround. The Resort takes great pride in offering an exceptionally wide range of activities and excursions to suit all age groups and interests. As well as the private Island Spa and five restaurants and bars (with 24-hour in-bungalow and beachside dining options), the Resort has its own Dive Centre, Watersport Centre, Surf School and an extensive Kuda Mas Kids’ Club.
Guests are invited to join a variety of cultural events to discover more about the traditional Maldivian way of life through the arts of music, dance and craft-making – both at the Resort and on daily trips to the neighbouring fishing village of Bodu Huraa, where the Resort sponsors a series of community projects. Kuda Huraa is accessed via a 25-minute speeedboat transfer from Malé International Airport.

The design of the 96 Beach and Water Bungalows at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa draws on the traditions of generations of craftsmen, with a generous use of timber and thatch; the result is a refined natural look that complements the surrounding nature, viewed through floor to ceiling windows.
The interiors of the accommodations exude a modern tropical atmosphere, in keeping with the relaxed, rustic feel of the island. Plasma TV, DVD entertainment system and broadband internet access are discreetly incorporated for 21st century
convenience.

Room Amenities: Each Beach Pavilion with Pool ( Total 25 units ) comprises a bedroom and bathroom pavilion and outdoor living area with 18m2 plunge pool and day-bed set on a white stone veranda. The bathroom design artfully integrates an 'indoor' bath and shower area with an outdoor courtyard, which contains a Maldivian openair shower set in the exotic confines of its own walled garden. The Beach Pavilions are slightly set back from the beach for additional privacy yet offer easy access to it. Several are linked with interconnecting gates & verandas giving families the option to create a larger, shared compound.

Just steps from the beach, each Beach Bungalow with Pool (Total 32 units ) comprises a private sanctuary set within a garden of mature palms and colourful tropical flowers. The larger-sized bedroom and living and bathroom pavilion (with open-air shower courtyard) lead to an extensive outdoor area with an infinity plunge pool (17m2) and gazebo. The surrounding lush foliage provides maximum seclusion whilst retaining direct beach access.

With one king-bedded room and one twin-bedded room positioned off a central living area, the Royal Beach Villa ( 01 Unit ) epitomises beach-side comfort for families or those requiring extra space. Adjacent to each bedroom is a separate dressing area and spacious outdoor garden shower. The indoor living and dining area opens onto an enormous outdoor space (256m2) with private sundeck (149m2), generous infinity-edged pool and gazebo. The surrounding tropical garden is furnished with a shaded day-bed and undholi (wooden swing). The Royal Beach Villa also has its own private stretch of beach with sun lounges and an additional private gazebo, set overthe water, ideal for breakfast or sunset drinks.

Built on sturdy columns in the waters of Kuda Huraa’s tranquil lagoon, the Water Bungalows ( Total 32 units ) are individually constructed with Maldivian thatch, teak floors and modern tropical furnishings. Each water bungalow has an entrance lobby and a spacious bedroom with both day and king-size bed, which faces a glass-panelled window with unbroken views over the sea. The dressing room leads to a bathroom, with a bath overlooking the lagoon and an outdoor courtyard with a Maldivian openair shower. Guests can also access the bathroom directly from the deck. Outside, the veranda is angled so it can only be seen from the sea and is perfect for private sunbathing. Steps lead down to the lagoon – a natural swimming pool – and a sea level fresh water shower.

The beautiful Navaranna Water Bungalows ( Total 04 units ) have extensive outdoor living space with wrap-round views of the sea seen from the interior through floor to ceiling windows. In addition to the main bedroom and bathroom (with open-air shower courtyard), a separate living room with sofa bed and adjoining shower room offers flexibility for families.

The Two-bedroom Water Bungalows ( Total 02 units ) consist of a king and a twin-bedded room each with separate dressing areas, bathrooms and outdoor showers. A shared living and dining area overlooks the extensive private sundeck, from which steps lead to a lower platform with sea access and feature shower. The Two-bedroom Water Bungalows are located adjacent to the small Reef Island, offering additional privacy and excellent snorkelling opportunities.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has five fabulous dining options in addition to 24 hour in-bungalow dining.

Café Huraa - The brand new contemporary restaurant, Café Huraa, serves contemporary Asian cuisine in an al fresco setting adjacent to the swimming pool. The restaurant’s white stone floor, modern tropical furnishings and high thatched roofs combine with the light and breezy location and stunning sea views to provide a sense of place entirely conducive to beachside relaxation. The restaurant consists of two dining pavilions and a separate buffet pavilion (open for breakfast and occasional theme nights). There is also a Barbecue Hut with several tables in the sand, right next to the sea. The menu features extensive Western and Asian options for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is exclusively Asian, with an emphasis on specialities of the region, complemented by the island’s impressive wine cellar.

Baraabaru Restaurant - The stunningly designed Baraabaru brings the romance and grandeur of India to Kuda Huraa. The interiors are an opulent combination of rich textiles, inviting sofas and atmospheric lanterns and chandeliers. At night, torches further enhance t h e a m b i e n c e a n d transform the outdoor deck, built entirely over the sea, into one of the island’s most bewitching dining venues. Open for dinner only, Baraabaru serves fine Indian cuisine

The ‘swim-up’ poolside bar - serves a wide range of cocktails and juices with snacks available throughout the day on the adjacent terrace. The Terrace offers an exceptional lounging experience, with ubiquitous service and excellent attention to detail. Several gazebos around the pool provide shade by day and romantic dining venues by night.

Sunset Lounge - The Sunset Lounge provides the perfect start to the evening, serving cocktails against the backdrop of a stunningMaldivian sunset. This open-sided pavilion adjoins the reception area and overlooks the jetty and Island Spa. Music enhances the relaxed, informal atmosphere and a billiard table provides entertainment.

Reef Club - Reef Club serves contemporary Italian fine-dining expertly prepared by Chef Michele Greggio. The restaurant is located away from the buzz of the main pool area, at the southern end of the island, with excellent sunset views. Dining is available outdoors on a wooden deck or under a thatched roof pavilion. A few tables are situated directly in the sand. The emphasis is on seafood and homemade pastas, antipasti
buffets and original Italian gelati with pizzas, pastas and salads for a light and casual lunch in the sun.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa’s Island Spa occupies its own private island, just a minute away from the resort by dhoni (native Maldivian wooden boat). Inspired by a Moorish oasis, with a central tented reception, the island is a tranquil and verdant retreat, dedicated to physical and mental peace, harmony and balance. A special emphasis is placed on the healing elements of the sea and the restorative power of marine-based nutrients.

The Maldives is known internationally as one of the world’s best dive destinations with one of the least exploited marine environments. Hundreds of captivating dive sites are complemented by excellent visibility – as deep as 60m with an average around 30m – and near-perfect weather conditions throughout the year. There is a large number of excellent dive sites within minutes of the Resort and transfers are done by specially equipped dive dhonies. As the Baa Atoll is still new on the
tourist map, most dives are new sights discovered by the Resort’s dive team and sightings of manta rays, barracuda, whale sharks and giant turtles are not uncommon. The Resort operates its own PADI licensed dive centre. An international team of diving professionals offers courses for beginners and advanced divers as well as daily dive trips.
